Colony
Days
Colony
Days is the major local "founders day" holiday
for the city of Atascadero. The even is held the third weekend
in October and includes an exciting parade through the downtown
area plus a festival of food, crafts and antique cars in
and around the Sunken Gardens. "Tent City" celebrates
the origins of the city with an authentic historical re-enact
of the way the first city settlers lived around the turn
of the 20th Century. Hundreds of volunteers put together
a tent community complete with actors in costume, a vaudeville
revue and period music. Also, be sure you sign up for a weekend
of swing dancing as Swing In The Colony presents nationally-renowned
swing dance instructors and multiple performance venues.

Open
Studio Tours
The Open Studios Art Tour is SLO County’s largest visual arts event. More
than 230 artists throughout the county open their studios to the public on the
second and third weekends of October. This event is a wonderful opportunity for
artists to show their
artwork and for community members to experience local artist’s studios
and purchase pieces directly from the artist. This event also serves as our largest
fundraiser of the year through the sale of catalogues that serve as a ticket
and roadmap to the studios. The catalogue contains full color samples of each
artist’s work, contact information, studio addresses and maps.
Applications are available here for artists interested in participating in the
tour. For more information either call (805) 544-9251 or visit our website www.sloartscouncil.org.
