Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony
Winter Wonderland is presented on the first Friday of December and features a tremendous line-up of entertainment and holiday activities in the Sunken Gardens. Local musicians and choral groups entertain, gift opportunities abound as crafter's display their wares, and hungry visitors enjoy everything from cotton candy to barbecue. The evening begins around 6 p.m. with Christmas carols led by the Atascadero Community Band. Santa Claus arrives to greet the children all during the event. Surrounding everything are multiple snow piles and sled runs to provide that Currier & Ives "winter wonderland" ambiance. Sweetheart Stroll

One of Atascadero Main Street ’s most successful promotions returns next month with wine-tasting and dance demonstrations. The annual Sweetheart Stroll is set for Saturday, Feb. 9th, 1-4 p.m. in downtown Atascadero (come rain or sunshine)! “Each year, as Valentine’s Day approaches, downtown merchants open their doors and invite folks to take a leisurely stroll around the historic Colony District,” said Atascadero Main Street Executive Director Steve Martin . “Local wineries pour their best and local businesses offer special shopping opportunities.” This year Atascadero Main Street has streamlined the process of getting into the swing of Sweetheart Stroll. Instead of wine-tasting tickets, a special Stroll Bracelet will be sold entitling participants to an afternoon of wine-tasting. The $20 bracelet includes an etched Main Street wine glass. Local business people are invited to participate in the planning and execution of this year’s event by contacting the Main Street office. “As always, we want local merchant input in the planning of special events. We can meet one on one with interested parties or arrange for special planning meetings to accommodate busy schedules,” said Martin.
