Atascadero’s Cruisin’ Weekend is back!

The weekend kicks off with the 28th Annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite on Friday, August 20th at 6:30 p.m., continues on Saturday with our 5th Annual Dancing in the Streets in the Downtown from 5-9 pm!

Hot El Camino Cruise Nite marks the 28th year that this cruise has been in place! It’s one of the largest and most popular annual events in San Luis Obispo County and one of the City’s signature events! On Friday evening, over 400 local cruisers from the 1950s and 1960s come downtown from across California. These beautifully, restored antique cars cruise up and down El Camino Real from 6:30 – 9:00 pm. Over the years, Cruise Nite has grown immensely, and expanded to be a weekend event for locals and tourists alike to enjoy a full weekend of fun! For pre-registration call (805) 470-3360.


The fun continues on Saturday evening, August 21st at 5 pm with the 5th Annual Dancing in the Streets from 5-9 pm! Located at Historic City Hall in Downtown Atascadero, this event will feature two of the County's favorite bands: Steppin' Out (5-7 pm) & Burning James All-Stars (7-9 pm)! There will be plenty of opportunities to dance, enjoy a variety of food vendors and the beautiful Sunken Gardens. This event is FREE to attend, just bring your lawn chair to enjoy the music!

If you would like to register your vehicle for the 28th Annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite, please complete the form below and bring it to the Colony Park Community Center no later than 4 pm on Friday, August 20th. The Community Center is located at 5599 Traffic Way in Atascadero. You can also pick up a form there at the center! Cost to pre-register by 4 pm on Friday, August 20th is $28/ vehicle.  

IF YOU DO NOT MAKE IT IN TIME.... you can still register from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at Coast Hills Credit Union parking lot. Please enter this area on Curbaril and San Luis Ave. as El Camino Real will be closed. The cost to register on-site is $38/ vehicle.

Cruisin’ Weekend kicks off Friday, August 20, 2021, from 6:30 until 9:00 p.m. with the City of Atascadero’s 28th Annual Hot El Camino Cruise Nite, which is a closed and controlled cruise on El Camino Real from Traffic Way to Curbaril! The following roads will close beginning at 5:30 pm (Hard Road Closure at 6 pm):


Highway 41 will be closed to through traffic between the US 101 southbound ramps (to remain open) and Santa Ysabel Avenue and will be detoured through Curbaril Avenue and Santa Ysabel Avenue. US 101 northbound on- and off-ramps at Hwy 41/El Camino Real (in front of the Von’s Center) will be closed, but local traffic to the Von’s Center can be accessed off Highway 41 at Santa Ysabel Avenue. Colony Square parking lot can be accessed from Lewis Ave. The intersection of El Camino Real and Traffic Way will allow traffic to flow between US 101 ramps to the north portion of El Camino Real.  The Tesla Charging Station will be closed during the event.



  1. Drive cautiously and watch for pedestrians, spectators, and other vehicles.
  2. Obey all traffic signals, signs, and control devices.
  3. Obey all directions from Police Officers and event staff.
  4. Deliberate chirping, spinning, and squealing of tires are prohibited. 
  5. Do not pour any liquid on the street for tire spinning.
  6. Exhibitions of vehicle speed, excessive exhaust system noise, and speed contests are prohibited.
  1. U-turns are permitted only at each end of the cruise route at the designated sites.
  2. All Vehicle Code rules and regulations will be enforced.
  3. Vehicles may leave the cruise route to “cool down;” however, drivers seeking to re-enter the cruise route after the “cool down” period must re-enter at the registration site.


Violations of the above rules may subject the violator to being escorted from the course, citation, towing and/or impounding of his/her vehicle, and arrest. CRUISE NITE WILL CONTINUE ONLY WITH YOUR COOPERATION! PLEASE HELP US ENSURE THAT THE EVENT CONTINUES TO BE SAFE FOR EVERYONE!

To register your classic car for Hot El Camino Cruise Nite, visit us at the Colony Park Community Center located at 5599 Traffic Way before 4 pm on Friday, August 20th.  After Friday at 4 pm, you can register at Pueblo/ San Luis Ave and El Camino Real. 



On Saturday evening, August 21st from 5-9 p.m., the City of Atascadero will host Dancing in the Streets!  This will involve two bands located at Sunken Gardens in Downtown Atascadero along with a handful of food vendors. This event will include the following road closures:
