The Way Out West Band was created when some professional musicians, who had played in multiple bands on the Central Coast, Nashville, and Vegas, decided to get together and do their own thing. Way Out West plays covers that many bands will not do, putting their hot licks and tight vocal harmonies together to the music that everyone’s heard of but is rarely performed. Turning from the slick Nashville sound and upping the dance factor and rock and roll vibe, Way Out West has built a solid relationship between tunes, listeners, and the dance floor.
Kelly Powers, on lead guitar and vocals, was inspired by the classic and alt-country in Nashville, Bakersfield, and Austin honky-tonks to create Way Out West. Valerie Powers, an experienced Nashville vocalist, percussionist, and flawless harmony singer, Wayne Pearson (Texas swing and Gypsy jazz), Bob Hamilton, on steel guitar, Vance Gibbon on crazy, energetic bass, and Art Dougal, flashy and steady, all keep the train rolling.
All concerts are planned for the Atascadero Lake Park Bandstand from 6:30-8:30 pm. Concerts are FREE to the public and everyone is encouraged to bring a blanket, low-back chair, and the entire family to relish the warm summer evenings at Atascadero Lake Park.
